CCCO is pleased to announce our new counter-recruitment brochure 'The Hidden Wounds of War' is now available for ordering!
It is vitally important that young people make informed decisions regarding military service. Along with the benefits and opportunites detailed by military recruiters and their advertisements there is another side to the story. We've familiarized ourselves with many of the half truths regarding money for college and job training skills touted by military recruiters, yet there is a side to military enlistment often overlooked by peace groups and counter-recruitment activists; that side is the post-enlistment experience.
Often when bright young men and women enlist into the military, a transformation begins once they enter boot camp. Another transformation might occur after that soldier is deployed to a war zone and returns home as a combat veteran. It is this side of military experience which we have come to bring to the forefront.
This new brochure covers many of the commonly overlooked issues that afflict veterans today such as: post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), difficulty gettingVA benefits, unemployment, domestic violence and homelessness. This brochure can be used at events and distributed in schools to inform and warn potential recruits to some of the possible challenges they might face should they choose to enlist in the military.
Hidden Wounds of War is a four-fold, full-color glossy brochure which measures roughly 8.5" in height and 3.5 " in width (folded), 14" in length (unfolded).
